As a result, today Russian producers offer white cabbage for sale at 48-62 rubles/kg ($0.61-0.78/kg), which is on average 14% more expensive than a week earlier.
It should be noted that such a rapid rise in prices for white cabbage contributed to the early start of deliveries of this new crop product from Iran and Uzbekistan, which is offered for sale on the Russian market at 42-46 rubles/kg ($0.53-0.58/kg). At the same time, today, even taking into account imported products, it is not possible to satisfy the rush demand in this segment. It should be noted that the early start of the import of white cabbage in the current season did not come as a surprise to key market players. Many predicted the start of deliveries of this vegetable in January, when prices for cabbage began to grow rapidly.
At the moment, prices for white cabbage in the Russian Federation are already on average 5.6 times higher than in the same period in 2021. At the same time, local farmers plan to further increase selling prices in this segment. They explain their intentions by the growing demand for white cabbage, as well as the rapid reduction in stocks of this product.
